Listed are the different ministry opportunities available at Spanish Fort.  Our desire is for every child of God to be involved in the Kingdom.  These ministries allow us to merge our talents with the areas of work within the body.

 OUTREACH MINISTRIES

 

 ·         Benevolence – Jesus began in many cases to care for the needs of the people before he ever began to teach.  This ministry handles the special physical needs of the church family.  This ministry oversees a monthly distribution of food to the needy in our immediate community.  The ministry leader is Don Rogers (pegdon2@bellsouth.net).

·         Disaster Relief – During times of a major disaster there is a need for rapid response to the needs of the church and those around us.  This ministry is design to provide the physical help during such times.  It is lead by David Edgar (chiefedgar@mybluelight.com).

 ·         Transportation – This ministry is designed to reach out to those in need of transportation reaching worship or special events.  Tommy Danner (cathyj21@bellsouth.net) heads this ministry.

 

 TEACHING MINISTRIES

 

 ·         Education – Teaching was a command issued by our Lord following his instruction of the “Great Commission”.  Our education program is designed to provide Biblical based instruction for all ages.  A planned curriculum of crafts, projects, lessons and most of all loving teachers’ support this ministry. 

 ·         Worship – The Bible teaches us that God seeks “worshippers.”  That is what our goal simply is to be.  We assemble to edify the body and to praise our Father.  Our worship is designed to be done in  “spirit and in truth.”  This ministry works to organize and plan those who participate in our assemblies.  Steve Hasley heads this ministry.

 ·         Evangelism – We believe that God has placed a responsibility on us all to carry the message of Jesus into the world.  This ministry supports local evangelism through home Bible studies and follow-up studies with new Christians.  The ministry leader is Hayes Sherer (hsherer@bellsouth.net).

  ·         Missions -  “Go into all the world” that is a tremendous task for the church today.  We are excited to be a part of that commission.  Ed McGaughy (mr-ed@nolimers.com) heads this ministry that oversees the mission opportunities to spread the gospel both at home and abroad using local abilities and resources.

 ·         Youth – The youth program is one of those designed to provide a growth opportunity for the children of the church.  Relationships are built that these young people will carry with them throughout adulthood.  We want to offer a place where they are not afraid to ask and know that they will receive a loving and Biblically based answer to the tough questions of life.  Mark Butts (mark@sfcoc.com) is our Youth Minister in charge of this ministry.

 ·         Children’s Ministry – Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me.”  We want to provide an opportunity for preschool children to learn and practice principles of worship in their own setting under adult guidance.

 

 GROWTH MINISTRIES

 

 ·         Fellowship – This ministry is designed to provide multiple opportunities for Christians to know one another on a personal level and to share love and care giving.  Through this ministry fellowship among the church spiritually uplifts and draws people closer.  Matt Harrison (mharrison824@mchsi.com) heads this ministry.

 ·         Men’s Retreat – The purpose of this ministry is to encourage and strengthen the men in the church along with their families and friends.  To provide activities that will strengthen the leadership of our families.  Steven Hasley (tshasley@aol.com) is over this ministry.

 ·         Ladies Ministry – This ministry is to involve the ladies of our congregation in activities that promotes opportunity, service, and spiritual growth.  Each committee works to encourage and promote the involvement from all our ladies.  The coordinator for this ministry is Tonya Seibert (mtseibert@bellsouth.net).

 ·         Life Group Ministry – Life Groups are held once a month on the first Sunday night of the month.  This program is designed to provide a context for spiritual growth through worship, sharing, Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.  The small group setting provides an atmosphere that allows for such growth.  Marc Seibert is the coordinator of this ministry.

·         Greeter’s Ministry – Spanish Fort is a friendly church.  We want everyone’s experience at our services to be one that will make you want to return.  Our Greeter teams are the first that meet you when you arrive.  They want to assure our visitors a welcome and introduce them to others.  Carl Davis (joallendavis@juno.com) heads this ministry.

 

 ADMINISTRATIVE MINISTRIES

 

 ·         Technology Ministry – This ministry handles the technical areas of the church.  Sound systems, recording, computers, and other equipment needs are dealt with through this ministry.  Glendon Gunter (glengunter@bellsouth.net) is over this ministry.

 ·         Building and Grounds Ministry – This includes the physical maintenance inside the building and needed repairs, remodeling, and future expansion.  Also oversees the janitorial, building security, and the baptistery.  The ministry leader is Buddy Russell (everthere@gulftel.com).

·         Finance Ministry – Works with the elders in the overall finances of the church.  Records weekly collections and provides accounting of annual budgets and financial reports to leadership.  Jimmy Martin (jmar9044@bellsouth.net) heads this ministry.

·         Advertising – Uses available media outlets to make the community aware of our presence and activities.  Our Elders are in charge of this ministry.

 

  LADIES MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

 

 ·         Baptism RoomsCathy Hanna - Provides assistance to ladies requesting baptism and oversees the supplying of both baptism rooms.

 ·         BeautificationGloria Ronayne & Doris Sherer - Coordinate beautification projects throughout the building: tending flowerbeds, planting annuals, and caring for/choosing flower arrangements.

 ·         Community Outreach – Reach out to those in the community who are hurting or who is in need.

 ·         Hospitality HostessLisa Davis & Rhonda Harrison – Provide an opportunity to get to know visitors and new members better.  Volunteers will pair up to provide a meal on Sunday mornings for visitors/new members here at the building.

·         Ladies DayDiane Patty – Organize a special event held for all the ladies.  Sisters from other congregations are invited for a day of spiritual growth and application.

 ·         Ladies Inner CityBonnie Brackin– Provide child care at the building during Inner City Mother’s Bible Study, prepare and serve lunch to the Bible Study participants and hand out groceries to each participant.

 ·         Ladies RetreatPolly Parrish – Organize a get away, for ladies, held once a year with special emphasis on renewing ourselves spiritually and emotionally.

 ·         Ladies Time OutLynn Hunt – Organize special times of fellowship and fun.

 ·         LibraryJeanne Sessions & Cathy Danner – Purchase and process books for the library and maintain the church library system for member use.

 ·         Nursery/Toddler RoomRene' Bell – Provide childcare during worship services for infants through 3 year old.  Oversee nursery and make sure room is in order.  Provide a quiet and private atmosphere for nursing mothers.

 ·         Play GroupPaige Shiflett – Organize activities for mothers and their preschool age children to provide an opportunity for social interaction.  Activities are open to both church members and their friends.

 ·         Sharing SistersPat Walley – Provide food for the sick or bereaved or any occasion that food preparation is necessary.

 ·         Teas and ShowersMandy Bell – Coordinate special parities for occasions such as new babies and weddings for our members.

·         WelcomingRachel Sherer & Rene’ Bell – Welcome frequent visitors, newcomers to the church and community.

 ·         Visitation FacilitatorsCheryl Whatley – Provide transportation and accompany other women who want to be involved in visitation but are unable to drive.
